Here's
a question that many ask: why Jesus? Many people believe that
they will be "good enough" to get into Heaven, like
passing a test or final exam. There are a lot of "good"
people who will not be going to Heaven. There are not many ways
to get to Heaven, only
one
. We
are all sinners and we are all full of selfish greed, even if we
think we're keeping others' interests ahead of our own. We are
born that way. We are born sinners and there is no way to change
it. Look around, we live in a world full of crime, hate and
immorality. God didn't do that, we did, man did. We have a sin
problem.
So when you die, what will happen? You're at
judgment and God asks you "Why
should I let you in?".
What are going to say, because I'm a good person. What are you
basing it on? The 10 Commandments, God's
Commandments? Then let me ask, have you ever stolen anything?
What about taking something as simple as a pen from the bank
(unintentionally, of course) or office supplies from work, like
a post-it pad or maybe a pack of gum from your local convenience
store or who knows, maybe something more substantial? So
wouldn't that make you a thief? Theft is theft no matter how big
or small, incidental or not. Have you ever told a white lie or a
whopper of a lie? Again a lie is a lie no matter how big or
small. So now you're an admitted lying thief. Not good. Even if
you stand there, in front of God, and give a list of all the
things you've done that make you a "good" person, you
still did wrong. Remember God is a God of justice. He is
righteous. There's no score card, no check sheet, no averages...
nothing. Well there is one thing, and it is very simple and very
easy.
When sin came into the world, it separated us from
God. We needed a way to get back to God. We are born with a sin
nature and there's nothing we can do on our own to get us back
to God. God knew we needed a Savior; Someone to take the
punishment for our own personal
sin. That's how much God loves you! God really is love. He sent
His one and only Son to die in your place, to take the
punishment of your sin!! When Jesus was crucified on the cross,
He bore the sins of the world; past, present and future. He is
the Savior of the world and He wants a personal relationship
with you. All you have to do is accept Him and make him the Lord
of your life. Once you accept Him, accepting
Jesus as the only way to God, nothing
scary is going happen but you will feel the love of God through
His son... and you will have it forever. God's free gift to you
can never be taken away.
Saying the words aren't enough,
you have to believe it. Ask God to show you, He will. He's

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the
gift of Your Son. I'm sorry for my sins and I ask for your
forgiveness. I accept what Your Son, Jesus, the Christ, did for
me on Calvary because You love me that much! I ask that You make
Jesus the Lord of my life and I surrender myself to Him. Jesus
is my Savior and without Him, I'm nothing. He is the greatest
gift of all and I thank you for Him. Please guide my steps and
keep me close and lead me where you want me to go.
